**Private GP Wait Times Fall Below 48 Hours Across EU Capitals**

Private general practitioner (GP) wait times across major European Union capitals have consistently fallen below 48 hours for the first time, according to new data released Tuesday by HealthMetrics EU. The report indicates a significant improvement in access to private primary care, driven by technological adoption and increased investment in digital health platforms.

The average wait time for a private GP appointment in cities such as Berlin, Paris, Rome, and Dublin now stands at approximately 1.7 days, down from roughly 3.5 days five years ago. This acceleration reflects a strategic pivot by private healthcare providers towards efficiency, leveraging telemedicine, online booking systems, and expanded clinic networks. Approximately 85% of private GP clinics surveyed in these EU capitals now offer appointments within two days, a substantial increase from around 60% just five years prior.

"This trend reflects a growing bifurcation in healthcare access, where those who can afford private options are experiencing vastly improved speed of service," said Dr. Elena Petrova, a healthcare policy analyst at the European Health Institute. "It puts pressure on public systems already grappling with resource constraints and highlights the increasing role of private funding in alleviating, or at least diverting, demand."
