Why we exist
AskPro Daily launched in 2022 because we were frustrated with business news. Too much of it is written for the Wall Street audience, and not enough for the people who actually run restaurants, hotels, agencies, clinics, trades and shops. Business press is often either too finance-heavy (stock-focused, CEO-profile, M&A-obsessed) or too thin (PR-driven listicles, recycled press releases). We wanted something else: short daily briefings, written in plain English, about what is actually changing on the ground.
How we work
Our desk is based in Toronto, with contributing correspondents in London, Amsterdam, Singapore and Sydney. We publish Monday to Friday. Every story is fact-checked, sources are verified through public registers where possible, and named experts are real practitioners in their field.
We do not run advertising. We do not accept sponsored editorial. We do not sell mentions, links or placement of any kind. When an article references a specific business or professional, it is because they were interviewed or because their work is directly relevant to the story.
What we cover
We use topic tags rather than rigid categories. That way a story about restaurant hiring can be filed under people, a ruling on short-term rentals under regulation, and an analysis of checkout friction under data. Readers can filter the homepage by any tag.
The team
Editor-in-chief: James Beckwith, who joined at founding. He worked as a business reporter in Canada, the UK, and the US for over a decade before starting AskPro Daily. The masthead includes rotating contributing editors covering hospitality, legal services, real estate and technology.
